The Local Flair that Is Pushing TM,Tommy, Levi to the Wall

Been to highbrow events lately? Well, you won’t be noticed if you are clad in something designed by TM, Levi, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss or Mark and Spencer. The thing is some local talents have found a way to push these international brands to the brinks of the market. It tells you this isn’t China. Zizi Cardow, Frank Oshodi, Mudi Africa, Saores Anthony, Lisa Folawiyo, Ohimai Atafo, Duro Olowu, Deola Sagoe, Folake Folarin-Coker, and may more have learned how to hold their own against the folks from the other side of the oceans.

These local fashion designers have embraced marketing. They organise fashion shows and use models to launch new designs. Mudi for example is big on PR; Frank Oshodi understands influencers marketing. Combined, their works are highly rated for styling, arts, fit and innovation. And when DaViva provides the fabrics, these guys seem to work magic that makes foreign labels distant and odd.

Big ups! Made in Nigeria is getting more and more interesting.
