Minecraft is a sandbox video game created by Swedish developer Markus Persson, released by Mojang in 2011 and purchased by Microsoft in 2014. It is the single best-selling video game of all time, selling over 180 million copies across all platforms, with over 112 million monthly active players.
Minecraft represents, in the history of gaming, the ultimate blank canvas. It is the Everything Game, by merit of the perfect simplicity of its base formula: building with blocks. One of Minecraft’s most enduring legacies is the early access model. In the immediate wake of Minecraft’s success, gamers enjoyed an early access boomlet, where players got unprecedented say over future development.
CANDY CRUSH SAGA
Candy Crush Saga is a free-to-play match-three puzzle video game released by King on April 12, 2012, for Facebook – other versions for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Windows 10 followed shortly after.
In the game, players complete levels by swapping coloured pieces of candy on a game board to make a match of three or more of the same colour, eliminating those candies from the board and replacing them with new ones, which could potentially create further matches.
Candy Crush Saga is considered one of the first and most successful uses of a freemium model; while the game can be played completely through without spending money, players can buy special actions to help clear more difficult boards, from which King makes its revenues—at its peak, the company was reportedly earning almost $1 million per day with over 93 million people playing Candy Crush Saga, while revenue over a three-month period as reported by King was over $493 million.
Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, the game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, which appear as if they are in the player’s real-world location. The game is free to play; it uses a freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of that year. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.
GRAND THEFT AUTO.
Grand Theft Auto ( GTA ) is an action-adventure video game series created by David Jones and Mike Dailly in 2001. The later titles of which were created by brothers Dan and Sam Houser, Leslie Benzies and Aaron Garbut. It is primarily developed by British development house Rockstar North (formerly DMA Design), and published by its parent company, Rockstar Games. The name of the series references the term “grand theft auto”, used in the U.S. for motor vehicle theft. Most games in the series are set in fictional locales modelled after cities; for instance, Liberty City, Vice City or San Andreas, are stand-ins for New York City, Miami and the state of California, respectively.
The series focuses on many different protagonists who attempt to rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld, although their motives for doing so vary in each game. Grand theft auto has been critically acclaimed and commercially successful, having shipped more than 280 million units, making it the fourth-highest selling video game franchise of all time, behind Nintendo’s Mario and Pokémon franchises.
NBA 2K Games
NBA 2K game is a basketball simulation video game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports, based on the National Basketball Association (NBA). Released every year since inception, the NBA 2K19 is the 20th installment in the NBA 2K franchise, the successor to NBA 2K18, and the predecessor to NBA 2K20.
NBA 2K19 was released on September 11, 2018, for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 , and Xbox One. NBA 2K19 game was nominated for “Best Sports/Racing Game” at The Game Awards 2018, for “Most Promising New eSports Game” at the SXSW Gaming Awards, and for “Best Sports Game” at the Italian Video Game Awards.
FIFA Soccer is a football simulation video game developed by EA Vancouver as part of Electronic Arts’ FIFA series. The developers also release their games annually. FIFA 19 is the 26th installment in the FIFA series and was released on 28 September 2018 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.
The game features the UEFA club competitions including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup. On 29 May, 2019, EA sport announced a free update featuring content from the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament and this announcement was gladly received among female gamers. Having won so many gaming awards, FIFA 19 is considered the most influential video game of the decade.
