How to know if your telephone line is among the 2.4m to be deactivated

The Nigerian government through the Minister of Communications, Dr Isa Pantami had earlier ordered the NCC to ensure 9.2 million mobile subscribers in Nigeria with incomplete registration be blocked from their networks.

However yesterday, the minister announced that the number of mobile subscribers carrying incomplete registered SIM cards have dropped from 9.2 million to 2.4 million less than one week after the initial announcement to block their lines. That is 6.8 million subscribers whose lines have been rectified within the period.

r Pantami had made the disclosure while inaugurating some members of the Board of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Monday.

According to TheCable Newspaper, telecom service providers have started placing partial blocks on customers’ lines with notice that they have to visit a network centre to update their registration.

Bashir Ahmad, a personal assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, shares how to check if your line requires a registration update.

Customers on the MTN network are required to dial *789*1#.

Airtel subscribers are to dial *746# while 9mobile subscribers are advised to dial 746 or 200.

Subscribers on the Glo network are to text REG to 746 or 3456.
