Launched in October 1983, the ‘London Fashion Week’ is a platform that gives fashion experts clue of fashion trends that consumers are likely going to key-into in subsequent years.
The biannual trade event, organised by the British Fashion Council (BFC), often showcases more than 250 top fashion designers. It is one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks that come up annually.
The first phase of the event often comes up every February, while the second holds every September. What this then mean is that, fashion designers can now dictate the trends of forthcoming months by sharing their designs far in advance of the season.
However, the September 2019 edition which held from Friday, 13 September to Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the ‘Store X’ (a showroom located at the 180 strand) London, was followed by the Milan Fashion Week.
The glamour event stands as a unique platform for top designers such as Victoria Beckham, Margaret Howell, Burberry and Christopher Kane to showcase their collections.
Another designer that promoted her brands via this remarkable event is Molly Goddard (a British fashion designer who came into the spotlight when one of her designs was worn by Killing Eve’s antagonist Villanelle).
Fans, unlike before when the event was exclusive to selected members of the press, stylists fashion influencers and celebrities, are now able to purchase tickets granting them access to front row of catwalk shows, access to BFC’s Positive Fashion Exhibition, and a complimentary drink.
