9mobile: Connecting with youths in innovative ways

9MOBILE, innovation

9mobile, one of Nigeria’s telecommunication service providers, has pledged its support for youth entrepreneurs and technology start-ups. The firm aims to assist the next generation of business leaders to build capacity and sustain their passion. But how vital is this focus? What is the service provider’s credentials in terms of delivering impactful youth engagement?

At a recent event organised by Vatebra Limited, a firm that specializes in providing software solutions, Stephane Beuvelet, the Acting Managing Director of 9mobile, emphasized the commitment of the firm to the youth segment.

Beuvelet says: “9mobile remains committed to young entrepreneurs, start-ups and MSMEs, and will not relent in supporting their dreams and aspirations.”
“9mobile is very proud to be associated with transformative initiative”, he adds.

The Vatebra Hub, located in, Ajah area of Lagos, where the 9mobile executive emphasis ed the firm’s youth focus is an example of its passion for creating opportunities for young people. The hub, supported by Bank of Industry (BOI) and 9mobile, aims to push the country towards wider adoption of technology. It will also help IT entrepreneurs build capacity that will help them scale their start-ups.

However, this is not the first time 9mobile is empowering youths and its customers in Nigeria. The telecom firm also provides innovative enterprise solutions and platforms such as Millionaire Hunt which gives qualified participants grants for business expansion.

More, 9mobile Kwikmoney helps young businesses access loans in an austere business operating environment where only 4% of adults are serviced by the credit department of the commercial banks. You will recall that in 2009, the telecom firm, under its first owner, Etisalat, awarded a $1 million grand prize to Kizito Egeonu, a 400-level medical student of Unijos.

9mobile has indeed done much in connecting with the youth segment of Nigeria. But like Oliver Twist, we can however continue to task the rebranded telecom provider to continue to do more and help broaden the digital communication service space of more millions of Nigerian consumers especially the youths.
